NIH-supported trial reduces HIV incidence by 70% in high-risk populations

A landmark NIH-funded clinical trial has demonstrated that a long-acting injectable antiretroviral regimen reduced new HIV infections by more than 70% compared to standard oral pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP). The findings represent one of the most significant advances in HIV prevention in over a decade and may reshape global prevention guidelines. The study enrolled more than 5,000 participants across 12 countries.
