Geroscience

The Geroscience topic includes interdisciplinary research focused on targeting mechanisms of aging to promote the discovery and translation of methods and interventions to prevent, minimize, or reverse age-related functional changes and decline.

The aging process represents a major risk factor for several chronic diseases and conditions, including frailty and lack of resilience. Geroscience seeks to understand the genetic, molecular, and cellular mechanisms that make aging a major risk factor and to use that knowledge to slow the appearance and progression of age-related diseases and disabilities.
