Infertility
The Infertility topic includes research related to the causes, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of male and female infertility, as well as research on fertility. It also focuses on demographics, economic impacts, and conditions and disorders that cause, contribute to, or are associated with infertility.
Infertility means that a couple is not able to get pregnant after 1 year of unprotected sex, or after 6 months if the woman is older than 35 years of age. Causes of infertility include environmental factors, such as exposure to chemicals or smoking; physical factors, such as blocked fallopian tubes or obesity; and conditions that prevent production of sperm or mature eggs, such as low or high testosterone.
