Lung Cancer
The Lung Cancer topic includes research on the causes, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of cancers that originate in tissues of the lung.
There are two main types: small cell lung cancer and non-small cell lung cancer. These types develop differently and are treated differently. Non-small cell lung cancer is the more common type. Risk factors include smoking and exposure to secondhand smoke, family history, occupational exposures, radiation received as part of medical care, and environmental pollutants. Lung cancer is among the most common cancers in the United States.
