Pulmonary Fibrosis
The Pulmonary Fibrosis topic includes research on the causes, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of pulmonary fibrosis, a condition causing scarring of lung tissue. This scarring makes it harder to breathe and harder for oxygen to get into the bloodstream.
Although the cause of pulmonary fibrosis is not always known, factors such as gender and age can greatly affect who gets it. Men are more likely than women to have the disease, and it is more likely to occur in those older than 50. People who smoke have a higher risk. A person whose parent or sibling has the disease may be more likely to develop pulmonary fibrosis.
