Stimulants increase wakefulness, motivation, and aspects of cognition, learning, and memory. Some people take these drugs in the absence of medical need to enhance mental performance, combat fatigue, increase productivity and mental performance, and slow cognitive decline. Currently, there are no FDA-approved treatments for stimulant use/misuse.
