Suicide

The Suicide topic includes research on the causes, risks, and prevention of suicide. Research on mental health conditions such as depression is only included when focused on suicide or suicidality.

Suicide is defined as death caused by self-directed injurious behavior with intent to die as a result of the behavior. A suicide attempt refers to the same without death or injury. Suicidal ideation, also called suicidality, refers to thinking about, considering, or planning suicide.
