Vaginal cancer is an uncommon disease in which malignant (cancer) cells form in the vaginal canal. The two main types of vaginal cancer are squamous cell carcinoma and adenocarcinoma. Symptoms of this condition include pain or abnormal vaginal bleeding. Factors associated with a higher risk of vaginal cancer include being 60 years or older, having a human papilloma virus (HPV) infection, and a history of cancerous tumors. Treatments for vaginal cancer include surgery, radiation therapy, or chemotherapy.
