Zika Virus
The Zika Virus topic includes research on the causative pathogen, transmission, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of infections caused by this virus.
Zika virus is most commonly transmitted to humans through the bite of infected mosquitos. In rare cases, it can also spread from person to person through sex. Most people who become infected with Zika virus do not have symptoms, but others will have fever, rash, and conjunctivitis (pinkeye). There is currently no vaccine to prevent Zika virus and no cure. Treatments like fever reducers aim to alleviate symptoms.
