Bioengineering & Biotechnology
Topics
The Bioengineering and Biotechnology Research area includes research on assistive technology, gene therapy and related clinical trials, nanotechnology, and regenerative medicine, as well as bioengineering and biotechnology. Bioengineering research applies physical, chemical, or mathematical sciences and engineering principles to the study of biology, medicine, behavior, and health. Biotechnology research applies biochemistry, cellular biology, biophysics, and molecular biology techniques to address issues related to humans and the environment. The National Institute of Biomedical Imaging and Bioengineering and other NIH Institutes and Centers fund research in this area.
