Multimodal Imaging of Neurodegenerative Disease (MIND) Unit
The Multimodal Imaging of Neurodegenerative Disease (MIND) Unit uses multimodal neuroimaging, high-throughput proteomic, and genetic approaches to understand how peripheral immune function, infection, and neuroinflammation influence the development and progression of the brain changes underlying Alzheimer's disease and related dementias. In addition to our investigative efforts, the MIND Unit is committed to achieving several key objectives.
Computational and Evolutionary Neurogenomics Unit
Alex R. DeCasien , Ph.D., Principal Investigator
The Computational and Evolutionary Neurogenomics Unit studies how sex, aging, and evolutionary history shape molecular variation in the human brain and influence risk for neurodevelopmental and neurodegenerative disease. Our work integrates single-cell and population-scale genomics with comparative biology to identify mechanisms underlying sex-biased brain aging and disease vulnerability.
