Urinary Infection

The Urinary Infection topic includes research on the causes, diagnosis, prevention, and treatment of infections in the urinary tract. Bladder infections are the most common type of urinary tract infection, or UTI. Urinary infections can also occur in other parts of the urinary tract, including the urethra and the kidneys.

Bladder infections are typically caused by bacteria entering the bladder and multiplying. Most bladder infections, if treated early, do not lead to complications. Untreated bladder infections can spread to the kidneys and become more serious infections. Because of anatomical differences, urinary tract infections are more common in women than in men.
