Violence Research

The Violence Research topic includes research on the causes, prevention, and outcomes of physical and psychological violence, including self-directed violence.

Violence is the intentional use of physical force or power, threatened or actual, against oneself, another person, or against a group or community, that either results in or has a high likelihood of resulting in injury, death, psychological harm, maldevelopment, or deprivation.

Violence is a significant public health concern that has profound impacts on people’s lifelong health, opportunities, and well-being. In addition to immediate harm, experiencing and witnessing violence can negatively impact long-term physical and mental health.
